Coalition forces have intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi group towards Saudi Arabia’s Najran province, coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said on Friday.
Al-Maliki said debris fell following the interception, adding that authorities were assessing the extent of the damage.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence authorities issued a potential danger alert for Najran through the National Early Warning Platform. The warning was lifted shortly afterwards.
Later on Friday, air defence forces also intercepted and destroyed a drone in the Makkah region.
The Iran-backed Houthi group has repeatedly targeted civilian infrastructure, including airports and energy facilities, as well as locations in Saudi Arabia, using drones and missiles. These attacks have also raised security concerns around the Kingdom’s most sacred Islamic cities.
