Security forces kill over nine terrorists in Balochistan IBOs

According to state broadcaster Pakistan TV, more than nine terrorists were killed during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Ziarat, Harnai and Surab under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna 3. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militants.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operations, according to a statement issued by his ministry on X.

The statement quoted Naqvi as saying that operations against what the state refers to as Fitna-al-Hindustan and Fitna-al-Khawarij were continuing with full force.

Tuesday’s operations come amid a series of security actions in Balochistan, where militant violence has remained a persistent challenge.

The government uses the term Fitna-al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Balochistan-based militant groups are referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan by the state.

In the latest operations, security forces killed two terrorists and injured three others in an IBO in Killi Zaik on Monday. A day earlier, seven terrorists were killed in an operation in Kharan’s Lajay area.

On Saturday, security forces killed 10 terrorists and injured several others during an IBO in Shor Pard, Khuzdar district.

Earlier, at least 18 terrorists were killed in Surab district, including eight who died in a premature explosion, according to the military’s media wing.

The operations come as Balochistan’s security situation continues to deteriorate. According to a Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) assessment released on July 31, the province recorded a 241 per cent increase in overall deaths in July, rising from 109 in June to 372.

The report said security personnel deaths surged from six to 62, while militant fatalities increased from 75 to 238. Civilian deaths also rose from 28 to 54 during the month.
