PTI Senator Mishal Khan Yousafzai was stopped from raising the issue of the alleged violation of a Supreme Court order regarding Imran Khan’s hospital transfer during the Senate’s Question Hour.
Senator Manzoor Kakar, who was presiding over the proceedings, told Yousafzai to restrict her remarks to the agenda item after she criticised the government for not shifting Imran to Shifa International Hospital despite the SC’s directions.
Yousafzai said Imran had instead been taken to PIMS for a check-up and returned to prison shortly afterwards. She warned that the opposition would not allow the House to function if the government failed to implement the court’s order.
The chair, however, did not allow further discussion on the matter.
Yousafzai subsequently pointed out that the House lacked quorum. The chair ordered the bells to be rung, but the required quorum could not be completed, forcing the Senate proceedings to be adjourned until Monday evening.
Several agenda items were consequently left pending, including calling attention notices on delays in completing the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline and shortages of essential medicines.
The Senate was also scheduled to take up a motion of thanks moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in response to President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to a joint sitting of Parliament on March 2, 2026.
