PTI to file contempt plea in SC over Imran’s hospital transfer

PTI leader Shafi Jan has announced that the party will approach the Supreme Court with a contempt petition over the government’s decision to take Imran Khan to PIMS instead of Shifa International Hospital.

In a statement, Jan said the government had disregarded the apex court’s clear directions by transferring Imran back to Adiala Jail after a brief medical examination at PIMS.

He accused the federal government of violating judicial orders and said the party would seek contempt proceedings against those responsible for what he termed “illegal and authoritarian conduct”.

Jan alleged that the government was putting Imran’s health at risk and warned that those violating the Constitution and court orders would eventually be held accountable.

He also accused Information Minister Attaullah Tarar of misleading the public over the presence of PTI workers outside Shifa International Hospital.

Meanwhile, Jan said PTI’s planned street campaign would continue under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He said Afridi would visit Hangu and Buner on Saturday and Sunday before taking the campaign to other parts of the country.

He added that preparations for the PTI’s planned Sept 27 long march towards Islamabad were also under way and would be intensified.
