Kinza Hashmi Visits National Assembly as MNAs Acknowledge Her Work

Actor Kinza Hashmi, who has garnered attention for her portrayal of a politically ambitious character in Leader, recently visited the National Assembly after receiving appreciation from lawmakers for her performance.

Hashmi was invited to the National Assembly by MNA Romina Khurshid Alam, who accompanied the actor during her visit and gave her a tour of the building. In an Instagram reel shared on Thursday, Hashmi was seen viewing various artworks, dioramas and historical artefacts displayed inside the assembly premises.

The actor also visited the assembly floor, where she met staff members before proceeding to Alam’s office. The lawmaker presented Hashmi with a token of appreciation and praised her portrayal of female legislators and politicians in the media.

Alam said she was “proud” of Hashmi for bringing the experiences of women parliamentarians and politicians to the screen, describing the actor’s contribution as “commendable”.

Reflecting on her visit, Hashmi said being inside parliament gave her a deeper understanding of the political role she portrays in Leader. She noted that politics should not merely be viewed as a privilege, but as a responsibility, duty and long-term commitment.

During her visit, Hashmi also met Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. According to the actor, they held a productive discussion on several important issues, particularly those concerning women working in the media in Pakistan.

Earlier in July, Alam and Balochistan MNA Jamal Raisani had praised Hashmi’s performance in Leader. Alam said the actor had fully embodied the role and described her performance as “absolutely phenomenal”. Hashmi subsequently thanked both lawmakers for their appreciation.

In Leader, Hashmi plays Rubab, the daughter of a politically influential figure from a feudal background. As the story progresses, her character assumes control of her father’s political organisation and emerges as a strong-willed party leader.
