ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has dismissed the pre-arrest bail petition of former National Assembly Speaker and PTI leader Asad Qaiser in a terrorism case linked to the party’s Sangjani rally.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra announced the decision after Qaiser’s counsel submitted an application seeking exemption from his personal appearance.
During the hearing, the court noted that Qaiser had last appeared before it in February. The judge also observed that the exemption application submitted on his behalf did not carry his signature.
The court rejected the exemption request and subsequently dismissed Qaiser’s pre-arrest bail petition.
The terrorism case against Qaiser was registered at Sangjani Police Station in connection with the PTI rally.
The court’s decision comes as several PTI leaders face legal proceedings and petitions linked to cases arising from the party’s protests and political activities in Islamabad.
