Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia is ready to play a role in promoting peace in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf region.
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Lavrov said rebuilding trust in relations between Arab countries and Iran was essential to addressing the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
He said establishing a stable regional framework was an urgent need, adding that Russia was prepared to work with other countries to make a constructive contribution to regional stability.
