TTAP Invites JI to All-Parties Conference, Calls for Political Dialogue

The Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has intensified consultations with political parties ahead of a proposed multiparty conference, with discussions focusing on the political situation, constitutional supremacy and democratic processes.

The opposition alliance had initially announced plans for the multiparty conference in September, with PTI leading the initiative. The proposed moot is expected to take up issues including law and order, the economy, inflation, political stability and the creation of new provinces.

A TTAP delegation met Jamaat-i-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman and discussed the country’s political situation, the democratic process, constitutional supremacy and other national issues.

The participants stressed the need for stronger communication and consultation among political parties to promote political stability, strengthen democratic institutions and uphold the Constitution and law.

The JI leadership agreed to participate in the proposed multiparty conference and called for a national agenda addressing law and order, economic challenges and public rights.

In a separate meeting, a TTAP delegation led by Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas met former prime minister and Awaam Pakistan Party Chairman Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The delegation discussed national political and constitutional matters and invited Abbasi to participate in the proposed conference.

The consultations come as TTAP continues efforts to bring different political parties together. The alliance has already approached other parties, including PPP and JUI-F, regarding participation in the proposed conference. The PPP has welcomed the invitation and said the matter would be referred to its chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for consideration.

The proposed conference is expected to take place after PTI’s October 4 protest, while TTAP has also formed a committee to consult political parties and work towards finalising the agenda.

Speaking after the meetings, Senator Raja Nasir Abbas said political parties should sit together and consult on the country’s political, economic and security challenges.

He said parties with a role in Pakistan’s constitutional and political development should participate in consultations aimed at addressing the country’s problems.

The issue of possible governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also discussed. The TTAP delegation and JI leadership expressed opposition to measures that, in their view, could undermine constitutional processes.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said JI would not support steps that suspend or disregard the Constitution or disrupt the existing political system.

He also called for meaningful dialogue between the government and opposition over PTI’s demands, including access to Imran Khan and concerns surrounding his health.

Rehman said political differences should not prevent concerns about the health and rights of political figures from being addressed.

The latest consultations are part of broader efforts by opposition parties to develop a common agenda and increase political engagement ahead of the proposed multiparty conference.
