Security forces have killed 11 terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to state media reports.
State-run Radio Pakistan reported that five terrorists were killed during an IBO in South Waziristan district of KP. Security sources said the forces targeted and destroyed terrorist hideouts during the operation, while a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered.
According to the report, security forces are continuing intelligence-based operations against militants in KP under the government’s Azm-i-Istehkam initiative.
In a separate operation in Balochistan, PTV News reported that security forces killed six terrorists in the Gorander and Mashkel areas.
Security sources said the militants allegedly opened fire on a security checkpost in Mashkel and attempted to flee after the exchange of fire. The security forces responded and killed the fleeing terrorists, according to state media.
The operations were described by security sources as part of ongoing efforts to counter militant activity and improve security across the country.
KP has continued to face militant attacks and security challenges. According to data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the province recorded 54 terrorist attacks in August, compared with 36 in July.
In recent operations, security forces also reported killing militants in Mir Ali, Bara and Dera Ismail Khan. Several other operations and terrorist attacks have been reported across KP in recent weeks.
