Families approach LHC seeking access to Imran Khan’s detained sisters

Families of PTI founder Imran Khan’s detained sisters have approached the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking permission for their relatives and lawyers to meet them and provide medicines.

Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar filed two separate civil miscellaneous applications on behalf of Shah Raiz Khan, son of Aleema Khan, and Sakeena Niazi, daughter of Noreen Niazi, in the pending writ petitions concerning the matter.

The applications challenge the alleged denial of medicines and access to family members and legal counsel for Imran Khan’s three sisters.

The petitioners maintain that the women have been unlawfully detained and that their lawyers and relatives have not been permitted to meet them or deliver essential medicines.

According to the applications, medicines were provided to the detainees on only one occasion, after which family members and lawyers were allegedly denied access.

The pleas raise concerns about the health and wellbeing of the detained women and request the LHC to direct authorities to allow their lawyers and family members to meet them and provide necessary medicines.

The three sisters were detained for 30 days ahead of a PTI protest march towards Islamabad.

On September 24, the LHC had rejected a request seeking immediate suspension of the notifications ordering their preventive detention.
