The Balochistan government has approved a series of reforms across key sectors, including mining, tourism, education and industry, aimed at promoting public welfare, improving service delivery and stimulating economic activity.
Briefing the media, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind said the decisions reflected the provincial government’s commitment to public welfare and the implementation of practical reforms.
The provincial cabinet approved the Balochistan Mineral Development Fund Policy to ensure that revenue generated from natural resources contributes to public welfare and provincial development.
It also endorsed draft policies for tourism and culture, aimed at attracting investment, creating employment opportunities and protecting the province’s historical heritage.
In the education sector, the cabinet approved the Balochistan Non-Formal Education Act, 2025, which aims to enrol approximately 1.6 million children aged between 10 and 16 who are currently outside the formal education system.
The cabinet also approved the introduction of double-shift teaching in government schools to accommodate more students by making better use of existing infrastructure.
To revive economic activity, the cabinet approved incentives for the reopening of closed industrial units, with the aim of supporting businesses and encouraging industrial development across the province.
The decisions are part of broader efforts to strengthen economic activity and improve opportunities for investment and employment.
The cabinet also approved amendments to public procurement rules to expand electronic bidding, improve transparency and promote competition in government procurement.
Under the approved changes, electronic bidding will be mandatory for tenders exceeding Rs500,000 across the relevant procurement categories.
