Supreme Court Publishes Report Detailing Judicial and Institutional Reforms

The Supreme Court has released a report outlining its judicial and institutional reform initiatives, highlighting progress in case management, reducing the backlog of pending cases, digital transformation, institutional accountability and public access to justice.

The report provides details of the implementation of an 86-point Reform Action Plan, supported by a structured governance framework, dedicated working groups and regular reviews to monitor progress on reform measures.

According to the report, judicial performance has improved through an increase in case disposals, greater attention to long-pending cases, the expansion of digital services and the introduction of data-driven performance monitoring.

It also highlights key national initiatives pursued through the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee, including time-bound disposal of prioritised cases, the establishment of Model Trial Courts, the responsible use of artificial intelligence and the development of judicial analytics.

The report documents progress in modernising judicial procedures, improving access to court services and strengthening coordination among judicial institutions.

It also outlines initiatives aimed at facilitating litigants, enhancing transparency, expanding international judicial cooperation and making the justice system more responsive to public needs.

The document serves as an institutional record of the ongoing reform process, outlining measurable achievements as well as areas requiring further work.

The report emphasises the continuing need to improve the efficiency, accessibility, predictability and responsiveness of justice delivery across Pakistan.
