At least 51 women were allegedly deprived of their mobile phones after being lured to a farmhouse in Karachi for what was presented as a job fair, police said.
Gadap City SHO Mumtaz Marwat said a large group of women had travelled to the farmhouse in two buses to participate in the purported recruitment event.
According to the police officer, organisers told the participants to hand over their mobile phones, claiming that recording during interviews was prohibited to maintain fairness among candidates.
The women subsequently handed their phones to the organisers, who allegedly left the venue with the devices, the SHO said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, while no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to ensure the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the incident and the recovery of the stolen mobile phones.
