Pakistani actor Imran Ashraf has dismissed social media reports claiming that he had died, assuring fans that he is “absolutely fine” and alive.
Ashraf addressed the rumours through an Instagram story, saying the reports were false while also asking his followers to remember him in their prayers.
The clarification came after several AI-generated videos circulated on social media, falsely announcing the actor’s death from a heart attack. The clips reportedly featured AI-generated versions of actor Bilal Abbas, former cricketer Shahid Afridi and journalist Mansoor Ali Khan, along with a fabricated video depicting Ashraf’s funeral.
Ashraf is among a growing number of public figures targeted by AI-generated misinformation. In June, singer Tahira Syed also denied online reports of her death and urged people to verify information before sharing it.
Similarly, actor Tauseeq Haider recently addressed AI-generated images falsely suggesting that he had married actor Farah Saadia. The two actors clarified that they were both single and dismissed the fabricated claims.
The spread of such AI-generated content has raised concerns over the increasing use of artificial intelligence to create misleading material involving celebrities and other public figures.
