Two women were allegedly killed by their husbands in separate incidents in Charsadda, police said.
The first incident took place in the Merakhail area, where a man allegedly strangled his wife following a family dispute.
According to police, the deceased woman’s brother, Saleem Khan, was at home when his nephew, Umair Alam, informed him that his maternal aunt had been found dead at her residence.
Saleem rushed to the house and found his sister dead. He alleged that she had been strangled by her husband, Asif, a resident of Hussainabad.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
In the second incident, a woman identified as Rubina was allegedly shot dead by her husband following a domestic dispute in the Hajjiabad area.
Her brother, Nauman Siddiq, told police that he was informed that his sister had been shot by her husband, Shah Zaman.
He said he reached the scene and found Rubina lying in a pool of blood. According to the complainant, the shooting appeared to have followed a quarrel between the couple.
Police registered a case against Zaman and initiated an investigation. The bodies of both women were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Separately, a 60-year-old man was killed while his teenage son narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt in Shabqadar, police said.
The incident occurred in the Mian Palangzai area, where armed men allegedly opened fire on Khalid Khan and his son while they were travelling.
Police said Khalid sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene, while his son remained unharmed.
A case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s son under Sections 302, 324 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the complainant, the alleged attack was motivated by a dispute between children.
Police shifted Khalid’s body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Shabqadar, for medico-legal formalities and began an investigation.
