Security forces have killed 49 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing said the operations were carried out jointly with police as part of an ongoing counter-terrorism campaign. It said 12 terrorists were killed in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts of KP.
Weapons, ammunition, explosives, improvised explosive device (IED) detonators and motorcycles were recovered from the slain militants and destroyed, the ISPR said.
In Balochistan, 37 terrorists were killed during 10 intelligence-based operations in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts. A large quantity of weapons, explosive material and remote-detonation equipment was also recovered.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining terrorists and vowed that counter-terrorism efforts would continue under the government’s Azm-i-Istehkam initiative.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the operations and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari also commended the forces, saying externally sponsored terrorism would not be allowed to undermine the country’s peace and stability.
The latest operations come amid a rise in militant violence. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, July was the deadliest month of 2026, with 205 people killed in terrorist attacks and counter-terrorism operations, including 112 security personnel.
