LAHORE: Farhan Yousaf, who captained Pakistan to the ACC U-19 Asia Cup title last December, will lead the national youth side on their forthcoming tour of England, the country’s cricket board announced on Thursday.
The 15-member squad will depart from Lahore on Aug 30 for the tour, which begins on Sept 2 with a solitary Youth Test against England at Arundel Castle Cricket Ground. The two sides will also play four Youth ODIs.
Farhan is among nine players in the squad who have previously represented Pakistan U-19. The others are Abdul Subhan, Ahmad Hussain, Hamza Zahoor, Mohammad Sayyam, Mohammad Huzaifa, Niqab Shafiq, Umar Zaib and Usman Khan.
The remaining six players are in line to make their Pakistan U-19 debuts.
The squad features four pace bowlers in Sayyam, Subhan, Rizwanullah and Zaib, while Huzaifa, a left-arm wrist-spinner, and Niqab, a left-arm spinner, provide the spin options.
Aliyan Salman, Ahmad, Jahangir Bilal and Hayam Khan are the all-rounders, while Hamza Zahoor and Abdul Qadir are the two wicket-keepers. Farhan, Usman and Hasnain Abbas Dar are the designated batters.
The squad underwent a pre-tour training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, which concluded with a two-day red-ball intra-squad match on Tuesday.
Shahid Anwar has been appointed head coach, with Rao Iftikhar Anjum as fast bowling coach, Zohaib Khan as spin bowling coach and Humayun Farhat as fielding coach.
The PCB also named five non-travelling reserves — Abbas Afridi, Ali Hasnain Badshah, Farhanullah, Hassan Khan and Ibtisam Azhar.
