Actor Nimra Khan’s former husband, Zain Hamid, has claimed that he divorced the actor on July 17, citing “irreconcilable personal differences” and differences in choices, according to entertainment news outlets.
In a now-unavailable Instagram story shared from his private account, Hamid confirmed reports that the couple had separated and said he had no intention of assigning blame to either side.
He said the legal process for dissolution of the marriage had already been initiated and that lawyers were handling the proceedings. Hamid described the separation as amicable and wished Khan well.
Khan had announced her marriage to Hamid in May this year. Images has contacted her representative for a comment.
The divorce announcement was subsequently criticised by actor Fiza Ali, who responded in a video posted on Instagram.
Ali questioned Hamid’s repeated public references to the divorce, saying the separation was not something to be repeatedly announced or presented as an achievement.
She also criticised a recent social media post attributed to Hamid carrying the caption “finally at peace. Good riddance”, which was later deleted.
In his now-unavailable divorce story, Hamid had said the remarks were made in response to what he described as “uncalled for” social media posts and status updates seeking attention. He did not identify the person to whom he was referring.
Ali said she did not intend to comment on the divorce itself, describing it as a private matter between Khan and Hamid. However, she objected to what she described as the “humiliation” of Khan following their separation.
She said Khan’s decision to remain publicly silent should not be viewed as weakness, but as a sign of dignity. Ali also stressed that divorced couples should part ways with respect and grace.
Khan responded to Ali’s video with emojis that appeared to indicate grief and silence over the matter.
