A civil court has issued bailable arrest warrants for the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over continued non-compliance with a court decree concerning the rehabilitation of affected property owners.
Civil Judge Naseerud Din issued the order while hearing a petition seeking enforcement of the court’s decree.
During the hearing, counsel for the affected parties, including Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi, told the court that although the CDA had acquired the petitioners’ houses, they had not received the benefits guaranteed under the authority’s rehabilitation policy despite the passage of 28 years.
The lawyers maintained that the court’s decree had not been fully implemented and requested directions to ensure its complete and effective execution.
They further informed the court that the CDA chairman had failed to appear despite being served notices on three consecutive occasions.
Taking note of the continued non-compliance, the court issued bailable arrest warrants for the CDA chairman and directed the relevant authorities to ensure implementation of the decree.
The court also warned that failure to comply with its directions could result in further legal proceedings.
