Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed deep sorrow over reports of an attack on Madinah, describing the incident as an extreme act of brutality against the holy city.
In a statement, Fazlur Rehman said the news of the attack had deeply saddened and distressed him, adding that any attempt to target the sacred city was an act of grave brutality.
He said an attack on Madinah was an attack on the hearts and faith of Muslims across the world and should not be viewed merely as an assault on Saudi Arabia, but as an attack on the entire Muslim Ummah.
Fazlur Rehman called for Muslim countries to unite in confronting those responsible for attacks on the holy sites. He questioned when Muslim rulers would unite if they did not come together to ensure the security and protection of the Haramain Sharifain.
He further said that safeguarding the two holy mosques remains one of the fundamental objectives of JUI-F.
