Bilal Maqsood’s children’s show Pakkay Dost to return for fourth season on Aug 22

Musician Bilal Maqsood is set to release the fourth season of his popular puppet show Pakkay Dost on Aug 22, he announced on Wednesday.

In a reel posted on his Instagram account and the show’s official page, Maqsood said the programme continued to focus on creating “healthy, wholesome” Urdu content aimed at making the language more engaging and relevant for children.

Actor Syra Yousuf, who plays Mimi in the show, also appeared in the video.

Maqsood said the upcoming season would feature several new songs promoting healthy habits, including tracks about exercise and vegetables. Another song will introduce children to the Urdu names of different bones.

The new season will also highlight themes such as kindness and compassion towards animals.

Maqsood urged parents to watch the show with their children, saying he had created the programme with both audiences in mind. He added that enjoying the creative process was important to him when writing and composing its songs.

He also encouraged viewers who had not watched the programme to begin with its first season, noting that the show features more than 50 songs designed to entertain children while encouraging them to learn and appreciate Urdu.

Across its first three seasons, Pakkay Dost has focused on promoting Pakistani culture and languages among children. The show has previously collaborated with ConnectHear and the Sindh government to make episodes available in Sindhi and with sign-language interpretation.

The show is available to watch for free on YouTube.
