Billy Ray Cyrus’ ex-wife Firerose details restrictions as she was kept on Tennessee property as a ‘farm prison’

Firerose has spoken publicly about her marriage to Billy Ray Cyrus, alleging that the country singer isolated her from friends, church and parts of her music career during their relationship.

In an interview with published October 2, the Australian singer described Cyrus’ Tennessee property as a “farm prison”. She alleged that she was not free to come and go from the home and said the restrictions developed gradually.

Firerose claimed Cyrus “physically, strategically, and emotionally” isolated her from people who cared about her. She also alleged that she did not have a car and was prevented from meeting friends for coffee, attending church or recording solo music.

The singer previously discussed the marriage with in June 2024, saying she had been afraid to speak freely and had needed permission to send text messages.

Cyrus has previously disputed allegations made against him. A source close to the singer rejected Firerose’s latest account, describing it as an attempt to damage his reputation and pointing out that she had willingly moved into his home. During their divorce proceedings, Cyrus also accused Firerose of trying to isolate him from his family.

The former couple married in October 2023 after becoming engaged in 2022. Cyrus filed for divorce in May 2024, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. Firerose subsequently accused him of extreme verbal, emotional and psychological abuse, while Cyrus made separate allegations against her.

Their divorce was finalised in Tennessee on August 5, 2024, following a settlement reached through mediation. Neither party received spousal support, according to the Associated Press.

Firerose is now focusing on her music and has continued speaking about her experience. Her latest allegations remain disputed, with accounts from both sides differing substantially over what happened during their marriage.
