Pakistan suffered a 4-1 defeat against England in their opening match of the FIH Hockey World Cup in Amstelveen on Saturday.
Pakistan started strongly, using aerial passes to put England under pressure and earning an early penalty corner in the fifth minute. However, they failed to capitalise after the injection was not stopped properly.
England gradually took control and opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Stuart Rushmere. Pakistan goalkeeper Ali Raza then made several important saves to keep his side in the contest.
England doubled their advantage in the 29th minute when Sam Ward scored shortly before half-time.
The Three Lions continued to dominate after the interval, with Sam Hooper converting a penalty corner in the 32nd minute to make it 3-0.
Pakistan created an opportunity from a penalty corner soon afterwards, but England goalkeeper James Mazarelo denied them. England added a fourth goal through James Albery in the 48th minute.
Pakistan finally got on the scoresheet when Afraz converted in the 51st minute, but England held on comfortably to secure all three points.
Pakistan will next face Wales at the same venue on Monday.
In other matches, Germany defeated Malaysia 5-1, while India marked their Independence Day with a 3-1 win over Wales. Defending champions Belgium also came from behind to beat France 3-2.
