Ex-Prince Andrew Urges Court to Nullify Search Warrants in Epstein Investigation

A London court is scheduled to hold a private hearing on Thursday as former Prince Andrew challenges Thames Valley Police over searches of his current and former residences on royal estates, according to the judiciary.

The 66-year-old was arrested by police on February 19, his birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office in connection with his links to late US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was released later the same day but remains under investigation.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing.

Police arrested Andrew at the Sandringham royal estate in eastern England and subsequently searched his residence there as well as his former home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor, west of London.

The legal challenge was first reported by The Daily Telegraph on Sunday.

According to the report, Andrew’s lawyers are seeking to determine whether search warrants issued by a judge at London’s Old Bailey, formally known as the Central Criminal Court, were lawfully obtained.

The legal team representing Andrew did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The judiciary’s press office said the case involved an application by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for a judicial review seeking to quash search warrants issued by a Central Criminal Court judge on February 18, 2026.

Thursday’s hearing will focus on an application by Thames Valley Police seeking restrictions on access to court documents related to the case.

Thames Valley Police said its investigation into alleged misconduct in public office was continuing and confirmed that it was involved in legal proceedings concerning warrants previously obtained from the Central Criminal Court.

The force declined to comment further, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

Andrew’s arrest and the searches represented another setback for the former royal, who was stripped of his royal titles last year following scrutiny over his association with Epstein.

Documents relating to the late American financier that were released by US authorities earlier this year contained emails in which Andrew appeared to share potentially confidential information with Epstein.

The latest legal proceedings add another layer to the continuing scrutiny surrounding Andrew’s relationship with Epstein and the circumstances surrounding the police investigation.
