Fakhar Zaman struck a blistering century to lead PCB Greens to a five-wicket victory over PCB Whites in a List-A match on Wednesday.
Chasing 277, Greens reached the target in 49 overs, finishing at 277-5 with six deliveries to spare. Fakhar anchored the chase with a 123 off 104 balls.
The left-hander completed his 20th List-A century from just 76 balls, hitting 18 fours and two sixes. He became only the sixth Pakistani batter to score 20 or more List-A hundreds, joining Babar Azam, Khurram Manzoor, Saeed Anwar, Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal.
It was also Fakhar’s second-fastest List-A century, behind his 63-ball hundred against New Zealand at the 2023 World Cup.
Fakhar and Sameer Minhas gave Greens a strong start, adding 90 runs in 14 overs before Khushdil Shah dismissed Sameer for 24 off 33 balls.
Fakhar brought up his half-century from 39 deliveries and continued to dominate the bowling attack. He added 67 runs with Omair bin Yousuf, who scored eight, before completing his hundred in the 21st over with a four and a double off Ali Raza.
Shahnawaz Dahani eventually dismissed Fakhar in the 29th over, but the opener had already put Greens in a commanding position.
Debutant Farhan Yousuf contributed 38 off 44 balls, including four fours and a six, while Shadab Khan remained unbeaten on 34 off 45 balls to complete the chase. Farhan also began his List-A career with three consecutive fours off Dahani in the 33rd over.
Earlier, PCB Whites posted 276-8 in their 50 overs after being sent in to bat, with Shahzaib Khan, Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah scoring half-centuries.
Shahzaib top-scored with 76 off 88 balls and shared a 78-run partnership for the third wicket with Usman Khan, who made 34.
Whites were struggling at 31-2 after captain Saim Ayub was run out for 14 and Mohsin Riaz was caught and bowled by Mohammad Salman Mirza for one.
Usman’s dismissal in the 24th over brought Hasan Nawaz together with Shahzaib, but Naseem Shah broke their partnership by bowling Shahzaib round the wicket. The pair had added 44 for the fourth wicket.
Hasan and Khushdil then put on 77 from 80 deliveries to put Whites on course for a strong total. They crossed 200 in the 40th over and appeared capable of pushing the score towards 300.
Greens, however, produced a strong finish with the ball. Faheem Ashraf removed Hasan for 56 off 61 balls, while Naseem dismissed Khushdil for 51 off 44 and later claimed Saad Masood in the 47th over.
Whites lost four wickets for just 35 runs in the final 40 deliveries.
Naseem finished with 3-46 from nine overs, while Faheem returned 2-35 from seven. Saad Masood was the most economical Greens bowler, taking 2-30 in seven overs.
