Pakistan and Wales played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in their Pool D match at the FIH World Cup, with both sides securing their first point of the tournament.
Pakistan took an early lead when Abdul Rehman scored a field goal in the third minute.
Wales responded in the second quarter, with Gareth Furlong equalising in the 25th minute before Rhys Bradshaw put his side ahead just 31 seconds later.
Trailing 2-1, Pakistan mounted a comeback in the final quarter. Sufyan Khan converted a penalty corner in the 49th minute to level the score, while Hannan Shahid struck a field goal two minutes later to give Pakistan a 3-2 lead.
Wales fought back again, with Furlong scoring his second goal of the match in the 53rd minute to restore parity.
Pakistan pressed for a winning goal in the closing stages and created several chances, but Wales held firm to secure a 3-3 draw.
The result gave Pakistan their first point after their 4-1 defeat to England, while Wales also opened their account in the 16-team tournament.
Pakistan will play arch-rivals India in their final Pool D match on Wednesday.
Earlier on Monday, England defeated India 4-2 in another Pool D encounter at the Wagener Hockey Stadium.
In Pool B, France and Malaysia also played out a 3-3 draw at Stade Justin Peeters in Wavre.
Meanwhile, Argentina, the Netherlands, Australia and Spain secured victories in their respective matches on Sunday. Argentina defeated Japan 3-0, while the Netherlands beat New Zealand 5-1 in Pool A.
Australia and Spain recorded identical 3-1 wins over Ireland and South Africa, respectively, in Pool C matches held in Wavre.
