Saud Shakeel struck an unbeaten century as Pakistan chased down a target of 262 to defeat the Professional County Club Select XI by seven wickets in their three-day practice match in Beckenham on Saturday.
Pakistan completed the chase in 57.1 overs for the loss of three wickets, securing a confidence-boosting victory ahead of their three-Test series against England.
Promoted to No. 3 after opener Azan Awais was dismissed for one, Saud anchored the innings with an unbeaten 100 off 147 balls, hitting 10 fours and three sixes.
He shared a 127-run partnership with Imam-ul-Haq, who scored 80 from 88 deliveries with the help of 13 boundaries.
Mohammad Rizwan contributed 33, while Awais Zafar remained unbeaten on 30 to guide Pakistan over the line.
For the PCC Select XI, Josh Hull, Manny Lumsden and Nathan Gilchrist took one wicket each.
Earlier, the hosts resumed their second innings at 128-3, holding an overall lead of 195 runs, but managed only 66 additional runs before being bowled out for 194.
Caleb Falconer top-scored with 56 off 56 balls, while Saif Zaib and Lumsden added 24 runs apiece.
Pakistan’s slow left-arm spinner Ali Usman led the bowling attack with five wickets for 42 runs, while Ubaid Shah claimed two for nine. Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan and Mohammad Ali took one wicket each.
Pakistan had earlier scored 238 in their first innings after the PCC Select XI posted 305, leaving the visitors with a 67-run deficit.
The victory provides Pakistan with useful preparation ahead of the first Test against England, scheduled to begin in Leeds on Aug 19.
