The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has directed all doctors to renew their registration certificates within six months to ensure compliance with legal, professional, safety and ethical requirements.
In a statement, the council said the move was aimed at updating the professional register and protecting both practitioners and the public by ensuring that only duly registered and authorised doctors are allowed to practise.
The PMDC said an updated registration database would also help curb quackery, forgery, fraudulent use of registration certificates and unauthorised medical practice.
It added that regular verification would help identify outdated records and prevent the misuse of credentials belonging to deceased practitioners.
The council emphasised that maintaining valid registration was both a professional and ethical responsibility, adding that renewed certificates would provide verifiable proof of doctors’ professional standing for employment, training and licensing opportunities in Pakistan and abroad.
