Security forces have killed six suspected terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Sanni area of Kachhi district, according to security sources.
The sources said the suspects, who were allegedly affiliated with the group referred to by the state as Fitna al Hindustan, were targeted with the help of quadcopters during the operation.
A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the site, according to state broadcaster Radio Pakistan.
The operation comes as Balochistan continues to witness a rise in militant attacks, prompting security forces to step up counterterrorism operations across the province.
On Tuesday, security forces reported killing two suspected terrorists during an operation in Chagai district.
According to the military’s media wing, more than 71 terrorists had been killed in Shaban and other areas of Balochistan during a 96-hour period ending September 27.
Earlier in September, three suspected terrorists were killed during an operation in Badrang, Awaran, while another three were reported killed in Mastung.
Security forces also reported killing 21 terrorists in separate operations in Nokcha, Chagai, Ziarat Cross and Pishin earlier in the month.
Meanwhile, data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies showed that terrorist attacks in Balochistan increased from 83 in July to 89 in August, representing a seven per cent rise.
The institute’s monthly assessment identified Balochistan as the province most affected by terrorism during the period.
