Iran has conveyed its conditions for resuming negotiations with the United States through intermediaries, saying the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until its demands are addressed.
Iran said there would be no return to the previous negotiation process or reopening of the strategic waterway until its rights are recognised and US commitments are fulfilled.
Tensions in the Middle East escalated after US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, prompting Iranian strikes on countries in the region hosting US military assets.
Iran subsequently closed the Strait of Hormuz, a major global route for oil and gas shipments.
The United States and Iran reached an agreement in June aimed at halting military operations and facilitating the reopening of the waterway. However, the agreement later collapsed due to disagreements over navigation and security arrangements.
