he second teaser for Green Entertainment’s upcoming drama Mitti De Baway came out on Friday and this one is all about Wahaj Ali’s character Iqbal (Baala).
Keeping with — what we think — is his storyline of being an innocent boy being turned towards a life of crime, he says in the opening scene, “It takes a thug centuries to become a gentleman, even if he was a thug for just a second.”
Later, we see that like Mahira Khan’s Billo — who becomes a spiritual leader in the show — Baala has also amassed a loyal group of devotees, it’s just that his followers seem to be hoodlums and miscreants.
There’s no shortage of guns in this teaser, which strikes a harder note than the — which focused more on Billo. There’s also a good number of shots of Ali staring — at different points angrily, wistfully and knowingly.
The teaser ends with a black-clad Baala saying — to himself, we think — “There’s a big mess, a lot of accounts need to be closed.” Now, we don’t know if that was a euphemism or if he has a side hustle as a debt collector, but the guns scattered across the teaser might be a clue.
Like last time, we still have no idea when Mitti De Baway actually comes out; the channel continues to say it’s coming soon.
The show is written by Faiza Iftikhar, directed by Syed Iftikhar Hussain and produced by Tehreem Chaudhary. Alongside Khan and Ali, it also stars Amar Khan and Hina Afridi.
