On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Fazal Rahim Marwat, Assistant Additional Commissioner Nida Shams and a team from the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) inspected several housing projects in Charsadda and sealed 10 schemes found to be operating without the required approvals.
The administration said officials reviewed the legal status and relevant records of the housing schemes, colonies, townships and plotting sites during the inspections.
Authorities directed officials to initiate legal proceedings against projects found to be operating in violation of applicable regulations.
An official list also included the names of individuals associated with the schemes. However, the administration clarified that the listing did not amount to a finding of criminal liability against those individuals. The legal status of each property will depend on the relevant records and proceedings before the competent authorities.
The administration advised citizens to verify the approval status and legal documentation of housing schemes with the relevant authorities before purchasing plots.
It warned that investing in unapproved housing projects could expose buyers to financial losses and legal complications.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered the compulsory retirement of the chief medical officer of District Headquarters Hospital, Charsadda, over alleged irregular appointments.
According to a health department notification issued on Friday, an inquiry was initiated against Dr Kachkol Khan, a BS-20 general cadre officer, on August 15, 2024.
The inquiry found him guilty of misconduct over alleged irregular appointments made during his tenure as district health officer in Mardan.
The investigation concerned the alleged appointment of officials to various positions at the DHO Mardan office and the adjustment of their salaries against posts designated for lady health workers.
Dr Khan was also accused of engaging a private testing agency instead of the government-authorised Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency without obtaining approval from the competent authority.
The notification said the allegations against the officer were established during the inquiry, following which the inquiry committee recommended compulsory retirement as a major penalty under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2011.
A show-cause notice was subsequently issued to Dr Khan on October 6, 2025. He was later given an opportunity for a personal hearing on February 17, 2026, by the secretary of the public health engineering department on behalf of the competent authority.
The officer conducting the hearing concluded that the charges had been proved and found Dr Khan guilty of misconduct.
The recommendation for compulsory retirement was subsequently approved by the chief minister.
