Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi will visit Pakistan from October 13 to 14 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office (FO) said.
During the visit, the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) will be held in Islamabad, with the foreign ministers of both countries serving as co-chairs.
According to the Foreign Office, the meeting will provide an important opportunity to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore ways to strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
Al Busaidi is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his stay in Pakistan.
The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Oman and is expected to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in several areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in Islamabad on Saturday to review preparations for the upcoming JMC session.
The meeting examined the proposed agenda, bilateral agreements and arrangements for the joint chairing of the commission, according to state-run media.
The session is expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, finance, oil and gas, labour, consular affairs, security, defence, climate change, civil aviation, education, media and culture.
Dar emphasised the commission’s role in strengthening bilateral relations and directed the relevant ministries and departments to ensure comprehensive preparations and effective follow-up to achieve concrete outcomes.
The upcoming meeting is expected to provide both countries with an opportunity to advance their economic partnership, strengthen diplomatic engagement and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
