Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide was received at the airport by Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe Ambassador Ayesha Ali, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
He was later received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the FO said Eide was visiting Islamabad from Aug 13-14 at Dar’s invitation.
During the visit, the two countries will hold delegation-level talks covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations, with discussions focusing on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts.
The two sides will also exchange views on key regional and international developments, the FO said.
The visit builds on recent high-level engagement between Pakistan and Norway, including phone conversations between Dar and Eide in March and April, as well as the May visit to Islamabad by Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik.
According to the FO, the visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen the longstanding ties between the two countries and identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
