Yemen’s Armed Forces have claimed to have carried out 1,292 strikes against Houthi military targets within 24 hours, killing more than 430 fighters and destroying or disabling over 100 military vehicles and other assets.
In a statement issued as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, the military spokesperson said the strikes targeted defensive positions, fortifications, trenches, firing positions, reserve assembly areas, and transport and supply vehicles.
The spokesperson said fire support operations had helped prepare the ground for assaults and further advances against the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
On the eastern front in Marib, government forces reportedly made additional advances, expanded their breakthrough and captured several positions, including strategically important elevated areas, according to the statement.
On the southern and western fronts, Yemeni forces continued to intensify operational pressure on the Houthis in an effort to weaken their military capabilities, the spokesperson said.
Military engineering units were also engaged in clearing mines and improvised explosive devices allegedly planted by Houthi fighters. The operations aimed to reopen routes for advancing troops and secure areas recaptured during the fighting.
In Taiz, airstrikes targeted Houthi reinforcement convoys and combat formations, the statement said. It added that Yemeni forces and the Popular Resistance had detained several Houthi field commanders, who were being dealt with in accordance with military and legal procedures.
The spokesperson also urged residents in Houthi-controlled areas to protect their sons from recruitment campaigns, warning them against sending young men to fight for what the statement described as an externally driven agenda aimed at subjugating Yemenis.
