Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to strengthen cooperation in internal security and deepen coordination on regional peace and stability during a meeting between their interior ministers in Doha.
According to an official statement, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani held detailed discussions on expanding collaboration in internal security.
The two sides also exchanged views on the prevailing regional situation and matters concerning peace and stability.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to enhancing bilateral ties between their respective interior ministries. They also agreed to reinforce their partnership and cooperation in the field of internal security.
The meeting took place a day after Naqvi addressed the eighth Global Security Forum in Doha, where he highlighted Pakistan and Qatar’s joint efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
He referred to the Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland, organised by Pakistan and Qatar to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran.
Commending Qatar’s contribution to diplomatic initiatives, Naqvi said both countries were committed to preventing further conflict and protecting innocent lives.
He noted that Qatar had continued to pursue dialogue at a time when other parties had taken opposing positions, adding that Pakistan had closely witnessed and supported these diplomatic efforts.
Naqvi last met his Qatari counterpart on July 28 in Doha, when the two discussed security cooperation and explored ways to further strengthen bilateral relations in the security sector.
The latest engagement reflects continued efforts by Islamabad and Doha to deepen institutional cooperation and coordinate their approaches to regional security challenges.
