Policeman Martyred, Another’s Body Recovered in Khyber District

A police constable was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Khyber district, while the body of another policeman was recovered from the Jamrud area in a separate incident on Friday.

According to officials at the Khyber District Police Officer’s (DPO) office in Shahkas, Constable Kamran Khan was targeted near his home in Jalaldin Kalay, within the jurisdiction of Jamrud police station, while he was travelling to the police station.

The constable sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene. The attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, fled after the shooting, officials said.

Police registered a case against unidentified suspects and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved. No individual or organisation has claimed responsibility for the killing.

The funeral prayers of the deceased constable were offered at the Shahkas Police Centre in Jamrud. The funeral was attended by senior police officials, including the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar and the DPO Khyber, as well as district administration representatives, tribal elders and family members.

In a separate incident, the body of another policeman from Peshawar was found near Sakhi Pul in the Ghundi area of Jamrud early Friday morning.

Jamrud police identified the deceased as Bahadur Shah, whose body bore multiple bullet wounds.

Following preliminary investigations by Khyber police, the body was shifted to Peshawar. Officials said the motive behind his killing had not been determined immediately.

Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
