The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced a complete boycott of the upcoming by-election in PP-203 (Sahiwal-VI), scheduled for November 8.
PTI Information Secretary Shaikh Waqas Akram made the announcement in a video message shared on social media, saying the decision had been taken in accordance with directives from party founding chairman Imran Khan.
He said no PTI worker, supporter, office-bearer or activist in Sahiwal would take part in campaigning or any other election-related activity at any stage.
Shaikh Waqas Akram also warned that any candidate using the PTI’s name, flag or election symbol would not have the party’s official support.
Rai Hasan Nawaz, former MNA and president of PTI West Punjab, also said PTI voters and supporters would stay away from the by-election. He said the Rai family would neither contest the election nor support any candidate or political party.
Rai Hasan Nawaz, who was disqualified and de-seated from NA-143 following a decision by an Anti-Terrorism Court in Faisalabad after winning the 2024 general election, said PTI considered elections held under what it termed the “Form-47 government” unacceptable.
Meanwhile, 10 candidates submitted their nomination papers for PP-203 to Returning Officer Khudadad Tarar on the final day for filing nominations. Polling for the constituency is scheduled to be held on November 8.
