Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government had launched a comprehensive paperless governance system to digitise public services and reduce corruption.
Chairing an online meeting to review progress on digitalisation and automation, the chief minister said Punjab had become the first province to establish systems including e-FOAS, e-Procurement, e-Pay, e-Auction, OneMap, HRMIS and a central data warehouse.
She directed the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to explore the import of paperless automation software and ensure regular feedback from applicants. Ms Nawaz said an end-to-end digital system would reduce corruption by minimising citizens’ need to visit government offices or interact with officials.
The meeting was informed that more than 6,000 systems had been linked with PITB’s central system, while 600 organisations and institutions had been digitally connected through e-FOAS. The e-filing system had issued 176,173 summary notices and saved Rs9.1 million.
Officials said the province-wide e-procurement system had connected more than 25,000 suppliers and processed digital purchases worth Rs6 trillion and 1.29 million tenders. The system had also saved Rs1.3 million through a transparent, end-to-end tendering process.
The meeting was further told that revenue collected through digital transactions had reached Rs1.137 billion, while smart monitoring of development projects had improved transparency in development schemes.
