Türkiye Signs Agreement to Strengthen Counterterrorism Cooperation

Pakistan and Türkiye have agreed to enhance cooperation in counterterrorism, cyber policing, anti-narcotics operations and police training during a meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, in Istanbul.

According to information released by Pakistan’s Interior Ministry, the meeting was held at the Turkish Ministry of Interior, where both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation through technical assistance, the exchange of experts and joint initiatives.

The proposed collaboration will cover cyber policing, the Anti-Narcotics Force, the National Police Academy and other relevant areas.

During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi briefed his Turkish counterpart on the positive results of Pakistan’s crackdown on networks involved in illegal immigration.

Mustafa Çiftçi said the rate of illegal immigration from Pakistan to Türkiye had declined from 70 per cent to 17 per cent. He appreciated Pakistan’s measures and acknowledged the significant reduction.

The two interior ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Earlier, Naqvi arrived in Istanbul on an official visit to Türkiye, where he received a warm welcome at the airport.
