The government has transferred Maj Gen Faisal Naseer, who previously headed the internal wing of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to the National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta).
His appointment represents a departure from the institution’s usual leadership arrangements and could indicate an effort to strengthen Nacta’s role as the country’s central body for coordinating efforts against terrorism and violent extremism.
The government has not yet provided an official explanation for the transfer or outlined the reasons behind the appointment.
