Addressing a gathering on Sunday, Mr Qaiser said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s father was serving as prime minister when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was drawn into the war against terrorism.
He alleged that the current federal government, led by Maryam Nawaz’s uncle, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had once again turned the region into a “battlefield”.
Mr Qaiser also criticised the policies introduced during Gen Ziaul Haq’s rule, saying the declaration of jihad in the region and the spread of Kalashnikov culture contributed to violence and bloodshed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the people of KP had made significant sacrifices during the war against terrorism but were subsequently subjected to what he described as humiliation instead of recognition for their sacrifices.
According to Mr Qaiser, flawed government policies created conditions that contributed to the emergence of suicide attacks, while residents of KP continued to bear the consequences of the conflict.
He further claimed that no suicide or drone attacks had been reported during Imran Khan’s three-year tenure as prime minister.
