KP Governor Kundi urges CM to address Gomal University’s financial crisis

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi criticised the provincial government over what he described as a worsening financial and administrative crisis in universities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a video message, the governor expressed concern over employees of Gomal University and other institutions being forced to protest for the payment of their salaries and pensions. He said the protesters included faculty members, teachers, Class-IV employees and other staff.

Mr Kundi said the protests had disrupted academic activities, while delayed salaries and pensions were also creating financial difficulties for employees and their families. He warned that the situation could adversely affect the educational future of students across the province.

The governor called on the provincial government to safeguard the legitimate rights of public-sector employees, including teachers, doctors, nurses and local government representatives.

He also urged the government to shift its focus from political tours and protest politics to addressing law and order, governance and other pressing issues facing the province.

Mr Kundi attributed the financial difficulties faced by universities to what he termed excessive and allegedly unlawful recruitment.

He called for a transparent investigation into alleged illegal and unnecessary appointments made in universities across the province over the past 13 years.
