The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examinations, with the overall pass percentage for HSSC-II recorded at 85.95 per cent and HSSC-I at 65.31pc.
According to the results, 106,508 students were registered for the HSSC-I examinations, of whom 67,848 passed. For HSSC-II, 104,838 students appeared for the examinations, with 87,364 declared successful.
The results were announced during a ceremony at the FBISE headquarters in Islamabad, where Education Minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui pressed a key on a laptop to formally release the results.
FBISE Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik also attended the ceremony and briefed participants on the examination results.
In the Pre-Medical Group, Ammara Azhar of Army Public School and Colleges (Girls), Hamayun Road, Rawalpindi, secured first position with 1,079 marks. Muhammad Jahanzaib of Punjab College of Science, Blue Area, Islamabad, stood second with 1,078 marks, while Syeda Iman Fatima of Army Public School and College, Gujranwala Cantonment, secured third position with 1,076 marks.
Girls swept the top three positions in both the Pre-Engineering and Commerce groups.
In Pre-Engineering, Rameen Arjmand of Army Public School and College Girls, Rawalpindi Cantonment, secured first position with 1,075 marks. Zainab Samee of Army Public School and College, Gujranwala Cantonment, stood second with 1,070 marks, while Ansa Fatima of KIPS College, Wah Cantt, secured third position with 1,068 marks.
In the Commerce Group, Aqsa Farooq of HCCS Educational System, Rawalpindi, secured first position with 1,051 marks, followed by Aayeza Afzal from the same institution with 1,047 marks. Amna Asif of Punjab College Jinnah Campus, Islamabad, secured third position with 1,046 marks.
In the General Science Group, Abdullah Azhar of Punjab College of Science, Blue Area, Islamabad, secured first position with 1,063 marks. Hayan Azhar of Defence Forces Public School and College, Rawalpindi Cantonment, stood second with 1,059 marks, while Hadia Zakria of Punjab College Campus of Hill House, H-11, Islamabad, secured third position with 1,056 marks.
In the Humanities Group, Emaan Fatima of Army Public Degree College, Malir Cantt, Karachi, secured first position with 1,007 marks. Aamna Azhar of Islamabad Model College for Girls stood second with 1,003 marks.
The third position was shared by Raja Yahya Bin Fazil of Islamabad Model College for Boys and Umair Raza of FG Degree College, Lahore Cantt, with both students scoring 1,002 marks.
Congratulating the successful students, Minister Siddiqui wished them success in their future endeavours. He said the strong performance of girls in education was a positive development for the country.
The minister said the government was focused on improving the education sector and raising educational standards to enable Pakistani students to compete internationally. He also stressed the need for reforms and modernisation to support national development.
MNA Malik Abrar Ahmad, Intermediate Board Coordination Commission Executive Director Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, officials from the Ministry of Education, parents, faculty members and position-holders attended the ceremony.
