Lahore hosted a high-profile wedding ceremony on Saturday as Mahnoor Safdar, daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Captain Muhammad Safdar Awan, married Azan Jabbar.
The nikkah was held in an intimate gathering attended by close family members, including Mahnoor’s grandfather and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his uncle, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
With photographs from the ceremony now emerging, the fashion choices of the bride and members of the family have attracted considerable attention.
Mahnoor wore the Mughal-e-Azam peshwas by Pakistani designer Nida Azwer in a metallic sage shade. The ensemble featured a combination of traditional embellishment techniques, including mirror work, hirmuch, gota and zardozi.
The outfit was complemented by a matching silk dupatta featuring a mirror-work border with zardozi and gota embroidery. She accessorised the look with a bucket bag from Jimmy Choo’s Bon Bon collection.
For jewellery, Mahnoor wore the Le Soleil, or The Sun, high-jewellery suite by Lebanese luxury jewellery house Mouawad. The set, introduced in 2017, features a total of 211 carats of white and yellow diamonds.
Azan Jabbar opted for a formal prince coat by designer Faraz Manan, maintaining a traditional yet contemporary look for the ceremony.
Maryam Nawaz also selected a Pakistani designer for the occasion, wearing a custom kurta by Parniyaan by Ayesha Jawad. According to the designer, the outfit incorporated an heirloom Chantilly lace piece, Swarovski crystals, marori and jamdani embroidery, along with real gemstones.
The Punjab chief minister completed her look with a necklace featuring red gemstones and matching earrings, both appearing to be embellished with diamonds.
Mahnoor’s sister-in-law, Shanzeh Ali Rohale, chose a contrasting style, wearing a wine-coloured georgette lehenga embellished with gold taban sequins by Indian designer Manish Malhotra.
She paired the ensemble with a matching embroidered dupatta and what appeared to be a diamond necklace. The look follows the elaborate fashion choices she made for her own mehendi, where she wore a heritage lehenga by Indian designer Sabyasachi.
Details about the intimate nikkah ceremony remain limited, and no information has been officially shared about any upcoming wedding events. However, the fashion choices at the ceremony have already made the occasion a notable event for fashion enthusiasts.
