Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned what he described as a “cowardly and heinous” attempt to carry out a drone attack on Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
In a statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the people of Pakistan were deeply saddened and concerned by the cowardly act. He also praised the courage and brave response of the Saudi armed forces.
The prime minister called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and step back from the brink of further escalation.
Shehbaz said the region had already suffered greatly because of conflicts, adding that dialogue and diplomacy remained the only sustainable path towards peace.
The prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan stands with Saudi Arabia for the security and protection of the Haramain Sharifain.
