Macron Orders Measures to Protect Critical Systems from Russian Attacks

France has ordered measures to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure, defence facilities and sensitive technology sites against potential drone and cyberattacks linked to Russia.

The move follows growing concerns across Europe over alleged Russian hybrid activities, including drone incidents near sensitive locations, airspace violations and cyberattacks.

French authorities are preparing a security plan focused on protecting critical infrastructure and highly sensitive defence and technology facilities. Regional officials have also been instructed to increase vigilance and strengthen security measures.

The latest measures come amid heightened concerns among European countries over activities described as falling below the threshold of conventional warfare but posing risks to national security.

France has also reaffirmed its continued support for Ukraine despite the growing security concerns and warned that attacks targeting French territory would receive a response.

The government has urged businesses and public institutions to remain vigilant, particularly as concerns grow over the potential targeting of critical infrastructure and strategic industries.
