The government has directed that all operational fuel stations across the country be included in the ongoing petrol relief scheme.
Fuel stations that are permanently closed or exclusively deal in diesel will be identified and removed from the scheme.
Most fuel stations nationwide are now connected to the system, allowing citizens to redeem fuel tokens. Registration for the scheme is continuing through SMS at 9771.
The redemption of fuel tokens through SMS has also been approved for fuel stations in areas without internet connectivity. Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the provinces have been asked to provide lists of such stations so they can be added to the scheme.
All payment claims received over the past three days have been settled, with daily claims being processed on the same day.
The fuel relief scheme provides a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on petrol for eligible motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws, three-wheelers and vehicles with engines of up to 800cc.
The scheme was later revised to expand eligibility to more two- and three-wheelers, while weekly fuel limits were eased to provide greater flexibility to beneficiaries. Motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws up to 20 years old were also included.
The relief measures come amid rising fuel prices linked to disruptions in major oil supply routes due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. Shipping through key routes, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, has also faced increasing risks.
The nationwide rollout of the subsidy scheme initially faced difficulties, with some petrol stations unable to process digital fuel tokens because of system-related issues.
Amid the fuel crisis, the government has also introduced austerity measures, including a 9pm closing time for markets and a 50% reduction in fuel allocations for official vehicles for three months.
