The United States could launch military strikes against Iran as early as this weekend amid escalating threats from Washington and Israel, US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack said on Friday.
Speaking in an interview with podcast host Mario Nawfal, Barrack said the possibility of an attack in the coming days could not be ruled out. He clarified, however, that he does not have a direct role in US policy toward Iran.
Barrack also said President Donald Trump remained open to a diplomatic agreement, adding that negotiations had continued for months.
The remarks come amid rising tensions between Washington, Tel Aviv and Tehran, with concerns growing over the possibility of renewed military confrontation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed in recent days to bring down Iran’s clerical leadership. His statements follow two major bombing campaigns against Iran since last year.
Trump has also indicated that the United States could resume military strikes after a prolonged diplomatic stalemate. However, he had previously suggested that further action would not take place before the November 3 US congressional elections.
The latest warning comes as uncertainty persists over the future of diplomatic efforts and the risk of a wider regional conflict.
