Two people were killed and eight others injured in an attack targeting King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said on Thursday.
The attack took place on Wednesday evening, according to the aviation authority, which revised the initial death toll of one to two in a follow-up statement.
The fatalities were identified as a Saudi citizen and an Indian national residing in the Kingdom.
The eight injured individuals included Saudi, Indian, Yemeni, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationals. Their injuries ranged from minor to critical, the authority said.
GACA added that officials were assessing the extent of the damage caused by the attack. Airport operations have since resumed.
Separately, Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, said on Thursday that four drones had been intercepted and destroyed in the Eastern Region.
The incidents come amid heightened security concerns in the region, with authorities continuing to monitor potential threats to critical infrastructure.
